From 9th September, there will be increase in price of Rajdhani, Duronto and Shatabdi trains of Indian Railways. There will be 10 percent hike in price. However the first class AC train and Executive class charges will remain the same, according to sources from the railway ministry.
There will be normal fare for the 10 percent of tickets initially sold. Following this, for every 10 percent of berths sold, there will be 10 percent increase in pricing. This will depend on the ceiling limit at a maximum of 50 percent based on demand.
The maximum price hike in 2AC and Chair Car is 50 percent and that of 3AC is 40 percent.
There will be no changes with other charges such as superfast charge, catering charge, service tax, reservation charge, etc. The total number of trains is 42 Rajdhani trains, 54 Duronto trains and 46 Shatabdi trains.
