A Defense Research and Development Organization (DRDO) official stated that a long range missile was launched from mobile launcher at the Integrated Test Range (ITR), Chandipur. The launch time was 10.13 hours. This missile is an India-Israel joint venture.
This proved to be a great success. A few more tests are likely to be conducted soon. In addition to the missile, there are also Multi-Functional Surveillance and Threat Alert Radar (MF STAR) used for detecting, tackling and guiding the missile. Together with MF-STAR, the missile can enable neutralizing aerial threats.
It is to be noted that three jointly developed medium rage surface to air missile (developed by India and Israel together) were test fired on 30th June and 31st July this year at DRDO, Chandigarh.
This long range surface to air missile got successfully tested by the Indian Navy. The Western Seaboard by INS Kolkata performed the test on 30th December 2015. Following trials, these three missiles will also get inducted in the three services.
Many subsystems being used in the flight test are a collective contribution of Indian industries such as L&T, TATA group, BDL and BEL.
