Micromax, in partnership with Google will launch four different smartphone varieties all of which will have Google’s latest video calling app Duo.

Micromax plans to take video calling far beyond the tier 1 market. This feature is presumed to be an urban phenomenon, but we know its actual potential and will take it to the people, says Vikas Jain, the co-founder of the mobile phone maker.

Millions of users will now be able to explore Duo app and this is going to make the rounds during this festive season, he pointed.

There are attractive offers on high speed internet services (4G). This has considerably increased 4G phone sales. Furthermore, the launch of Reliance Jio that offers very cheap data plans and free voice calling will altogether improve the trend.

A research firm IDC says that between January and March this year, the smartphone shipment was 15.4 million. This is six times higher than the same quarter last year.
