The Minister of State for Finance, Arjunram Meghwal, informed that the Goods and Services Tax (GST) will be certainly implemented from April 2017.
The Minister informed this while attending a function in ASSOCHAM in New Delhi. He informed that as planned, the system functioning will be simplified once GST is implemented.GST Council will take a final decision only after discussions with the state governments regarding GST implementation and tax exemptions.
The GST Council meeting was conducted at the New Delhi Vigyan Bhavan yesterday (Thursday, 22nd September). The meeting is set to conclude today (Friday, 23rd September). The Central Finance Minister presided over the meeting. The finance ministers of state and revenue department secretary Hasmukh Adhiya, the state finance ministers, and several others participated in the meeting.
The central government plans to present the draft GST Bill during the winter parliament session in November.
The Prime Minister Narendra Modi had earlier conducted a meeting regarding the activities to be taken up on the implementation of GST on 14th September.
