Amma canteens will soon make history by selling 50 crore idlis by next year.
A senior government official said, Till date the city corporation through Amma canteens has sold a record of 33.60 crore idlis and 17.38 crore chapattis through 300 outlets and now with the new canteens adding up the sales and the number of beneficiaries will increase by another 20 to 25 per cent. The corporation through 300 Amma canteens had also sold variety rice for 13.9 beneficiaries and the Amma canteen module is now a most sought after scheme by other Indian states.
107 new Amma canteens were inaugurated in 15 zones including Thiruvottriyur, Manali, Madhavaram, Royapuram, Ambattur, Kodambakkam and Anna Nagar.
