Until last year, the Railway Budget and the Central budget were being presented separately. From now onwards, they will be presented as a single budget proposal. Further, the category of planned and unplanned expenditures is also included.
The central government has proposed to present the budget on 1st February.
The central ministry of finance has recommended this proposal to the parliamentary committee.
Usually, the budget has been presented only by the end of February. However, since both railway and central budget have been merged, it is proposed to present earlier.
The finance ministry sources inform that there is a proposal by the central government to make submission of Aadhar Card proof compulsory to avail rail ticket concession.
The finance ministry has also planned to conduct a preparatory review meeting before the budget session. This meeting of central cabinet ministers is scheduled on 17th October. There is a separate consultation meeting scheduled with stock investors on 25th December.
The economic survey report will be presented in the parliament the day before the presentation of the budget.
