Flyovers at Anna Arch and Vadapalani junctions will be operational soon. The long-pending Vadapalani flyover on Jawaharlal Nehru Salai is expected to be completed soon. The construction of this Rs. 56-crore bi-directional flyover is being carried out by Chennai Metro Rail and Highways Department; and on completion, it is expected to ease traffic flow; the road carries over 1.85 lakh vehicles per day.

Chennai Metro Rail is building the viaduct portion of the flyover and the Highways Department is bearing the cost of its construction.

Anna Arch flyover project is spread over two junctions. The first flyover, which starts after Anna Arch on Poonamallee High (PH) Road and takes a right on Nelson Manickam Road, was opened just before the elections in March. The second flyover under construction will start on PH Road, and take a right towards Anna Nagar. While one arm will loop back to PH Road, the other will continue straight. Construction of the third flyover, which will begin after Anna Nagar Roundtana and take a right at PH Road and end towards Koyambedu, will be completed soon.
