5 Crores investors in Mutual Funds

The number of Mutual Funds Investors has crossed 5 Crores.During the first 6 months of the current financial year, 29 lakhs new investors have joined the mutual fund schemes.
During the financial year 2015-16,there were 59 Lakhs investors in mutual funds.
During the financial year 2014-15, there were 22 lakh investors in mutual funds. This number of investors is calculated on the basis of the account numbers opened.
As per the information received from AMFI (Association of Mutual Funds across India), 5055945 investors have invested in 43 mutual fund organizations. As on end March 2016, the number of investors was 47663024.
The contribution of a small-scale investors has gone up. Especially, the increase in the investments in Equity Mutual Funds from smaller cities has been the main reason for the growth in the number of mutual fund investors.
