Tamil word Aiyoh gets added in Oxford dictionary

The world renowned oxford dictionary includes the Tamil words Aiyoh to its list. The Oxford University issues Oxford English Dictionary. The dictionary comes gifted for all those who want to learn the language and improve vocabulary. It includes an extensive listing of English words and precise meaning for each of those.
 
Oxford researchers visit different countries across the globe for every once in four years in order to conduct research on languages. Based on their study results, they include new words and their meanings. Now, the university has issued the latest edition of Oxford Dictionary in September this year. In this, the Tamil word Aiyoh or Aiyah is newly included.
 
Yeman’s wife
Aiyoh is a word used to express deep sadness, pain, shock and other similar feelings. According to Hinduism, Aiyoh is the spouse’s name of Yeman who is the lord causing death. It is for this reason that elders insist not to use the word. If the word is uttered, it is believed that Aiyoh will bring her husband Yeman.
 
Shocking truth
There are similar sounding words like Aiyoh being in use in various other Indian languages. The word is largely in use in Dravidian languages. Now the word is included in the widely used world renowned dictionary by Oxford University.
