People living in villages have to solely depend on the ration shops for food grains. To purchase other products they have to commute to cities. At  this juncture, the central government has decided to sell the famous company products in the village ration shops for the convenience of villagers.

An official of the food ministry said: After the Food Security Bill came into force, the ration shops regulations were strengthened. Smuggling of food grains came to an end.  The government has decided to rope in private companies to sell their products in order to enhance the salary and commission of ration shop staff. This scheme is being introduced in the villages of Rajasthan, Madhya Pradesh and Chhattisgarh states.  After seeing the feedback, the scheme will be introduced throughout the country.

Meanwhile Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan has introduced a new scheme where the fair price shop products will be delivered at the consumers’ residence.
