43 percent Judges posts remaining vacant in the High Courts

The statistics revealed by the Ministry of Law of the Central Government informs that 43 percent of the posts of judges remain vacant in the 24 High Courts all over the country.

There are some difference and issues regarding the procedure of nomination and appointment of judges between the central government and the Supreme Court. 

In this scenario, the details regarding the vacant judges` posts in the High Courts throughout the country have been revealed. There are 1079 judges posts available in the 24 High Courts in the country. Out of this, 464 posts of judges are vacant.

The maximum vacant posts of judges is in the state of Andhra. After this, there are 83 vacant judges posts in Allahabad High Court , 39 in Punjab and Haryana High Courts, and 36 in Karnataka High Courts.

During the enquiries conducted last week, the bench of judges headed by Supreme Court Chief Justice T. S. Thakur protested against this vacant judge posts yet to be appointed.
