With the recent announcement rendering the currency notes of the demonetisation Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- as invalid, the devotees visiting the famous Tirupathi are most acutely affected.

With the exchange of old currency being rather difficult, the devotees have postponed their trip to Tirupathi.

With this development, the crowd level of the devotees visiting Tirupathi temple has come down considerably over the last 5 days.

One of the trustees of TTD (Tirmala Tirupathi Devasthanam).Mr. Ramachandra Reddy informed that the crowd level of the devotees has come down by 25 to 30 percent.

However, though the crowd level of devotees has come down, the revenues earned by the Lord has not come down. Instead, the collection at the Hundi has gone up to an unprecedented high.

Following the recent central government announcement rendering the currency notes Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- as invalid, it appears that the devotees have dropped a considerable quantity of these currency notes in the temple Hundi. Especially over the last 4 days, large quantities of currency notes of Rs. 500/- have been dropped in the Hundi.
