New Rs.500 currency notes now available in Tamil Nadu

The new currency notes of Rs. 500/- denomination has now come into circulation In Tamil Nadu.

The Prime Minister Narendra Modi announced on 8th November the existing currency notes of Rs. 500/- and Rs. 1000/- denomination will become invalid. Following this, the newly printed notes of Rs. 2000/- and Rs. 500/- with additional safety features have been released.

The currency notes of Rs. 2000/- are already in circulation in Tamil Nadu through ATMs and Banks. However, the new currency notes of Rs. 500/-. which had been circulating in many Northern States, did not reach South India till now.
 
In this scenario, the Karur Vysya Bank branch located in Salem had distributed the new Rs. 500/- currency notes to its customers. As soon as this news spread, the public started rushing to the bank branch with enthusiasm to get the new Rs. 500/- currency notes.

Some people went to the extent of taking selfies with the new Rs. 500/- notes to share it with their friends in the social networking sites.
