The Main examinations for the IAS/IPS cadre posts commenced today (Saturday, 3rd December) and is being conducted all over the country.UPSC conducts these examinations to qualify for service in posts of 24 All India categories. There are 1079 posts to be recruited.
The preliminary examinations have been conducted already and now, the main examinations are being conducted. Based on the merit list of the performance in the preliminary examinations, 965 candidates are writing the Main Examinations.
As compared to this, 100 more candidates wrote the Main Examinations last year.The 5 examination centres in Chennai are in Quaide Millat College, Egmore State Girls Higher Secondary School, Lady Livingstone Educational Institute, and Ashok Nagar Girls High School.
The Main Examinations starting today are from 9.00 am to 12.00 pm.Subsequently, The General Knowledge Exam will be conducted on 5th and 6th December. Tamil and English compulsory exams are conducted on 7th December. This is as announced by the UPSC.
The results of the Main Examinations will be released during end February 2017 and the successful candidates will be called for interview.
