Cyclone Vardah which crossed the Chennai coast has weakened and is now lying in Arabian Sea. In view of this, there will be rains in one or two places of Tamil Nadu.

The storm crossed Chennai with a wind speed of 110 kmph-120 kmph after wreaking havoc on the city from Monday afternoon, when it made landfall near Chennai. Due to this, there was heavy downpour of rains in the inner districts of North Tamil Nadu. This cyclone has weakened and is now moved towards Arabian Sea.

An official of the meteorological department said:  Cyclone Vardah has weakened significantly into a depression and is now seen over Interior Tamil Nadu, north of Dharmapuri. Vardah will continue to move in west - southwest towards South Interior Karnataka. Hence there will be rains in Kerala and Karnataka states. In the next 24 hours, there will be rains in some places of Tamil Nadu. As far as Chennai is concerned the sky will be cloudy.
