Reducing the burden of school children, textbooks and notebooks for each and every academic term is provided to students of class 1 to 9 belonging to all government and government-aided schools. Accordingly, starting from 2nd January, textbooks for the third term will be provided.
Half yearly exams are on the go in schools in Tamil Nadu. These exams will get over on 23rd of this month and holidays start from 24th December until 1st January 2017. Schools are set to reopen on 2nd January and on the very same day, textbooks are to be distributed to students. According to the instructions by Mythili Rajendran, the chief of Tamil Nadu Textbook Corporation, book printing works for over 60 lakh children are on the go in full swing and the printed books will be sent to the respective school correspondents in various districts.
S. Kannappan, the director of school education said the schools will reopen on 2nd January and textbook distribution will take place on the very same day. The printed books need to be sent to the schools within 28th of this month for the same.
