The leading 2-wheeler manufacturer Bajaj Auto has decided to increase the prices of its 2-wheelers up to Rs. 1500/- citing the reasons of the high price increase of the raw materials required for manufacture and also to raise the grade of the vehicles (PS-4).
The head of the Motorcycles section of Bajaj Auto Mr. Eric Vas explained that all the 2-wheelers manufactured in the country must have PS-4 Grade Certificate from April 2017. Bajaj wants to be the first to reach this standard. Some of the Bajaj 2-wheelers are already in PS-4 Grade.
He told that the company has decided to increase the prices of all its 2-wheelers from Rs. 700/- to Rs. 1500/-. However, this price rise would not be applicable for the recently introduced Dominar-400.
Currently, all the 2-wheelers are required to have PS-4 grade certificate. However, from April 2017, all models should be of PS-4 grade. Even the existing old models must be converted to have PS-4 grade certificate.
In this juncture, it is worth noting that other companies such as Hyundai, Nisan, Renault, and Toyota have declared upward revisions in prices from next January.
