Final Voters list to be ready by 5th January

The final voters’ list in Tamil Nadu is to be released on 5th January. The activities regarding Voter data, such as corrections, the addition of new names, removal of dead persons, etc. were carried out throughout last year and now, the final voters` list is to be released in January.
Prior to this, the plan called Voters list shortened procedure scheme is implemented from September 2016.
In this scheme, it will be announced that all those completing 18 years of age are entitled to register their names to be included in the voters` list. Apart from the addition of new names, other activities such as removal of names, removing double-entries, and correction/change of address are also being carried out.
An official from the Tamil Nadu Election Department informed that the final voters list has been prepared. Once the permission of the Election Commission is obtained, the final voters list in Tamil Nadu will be released on 5th January. Each district collector will release the final voters list for their districts.
