TULA, an association which encourage handloom weavers’ products by creating awareness about them in the public, inaugurated the opening of the Organic cotton cloth exhibition in Savera Hotel, Chennai yesterday (Friday, 6th December).

Self-developed enthusiast Ananthu, who presided over the inauguration, spoke that after Mahatma Gandhi, no one has come forward to encourage hand-woven cotton cloth as much as Gandhi. In our country, weaving is the second resource for life and livelihood after agriculture. Weaving is an art. Mahatma Gandhi opposed the American cotton quite vehemently.

In our country also, we make fine, thin texturized cotton fabric and design clothes.

The exhibition is for 3 days. Woven products from the weavers of several states including organic cotton, clothes and dyes are displayed and sold in the fair.

We should encourage this effort.

Film actors Revathy, Rohin and producer/director Vetrimaran participated.
