As a smart move to grapple with the cash crunch caused by demonetization and subsequent crisis for money in local banks and ATM centres, people are looking for alternate ways to pay for their retail purchases, bills and miscellaneous expenses. Abiding by the longings of public, the 40th Chennai International Book Fair conducted by BAPASI has run the extra mile and introduced Token system at the annual event.
Those who have debit or credit card can purchase these tokens of denominations Rs 50, Rs 100 and so on. And these can be used to purchase books at various stalls. Furthermore, easing transactions among debit or credit card holders, 50 additional point of sale machines are introduced this time. The respective publishers who have set up stalls are also requested to have their own POS machines too.
Publishers in small scale who do not have any such machines can make use of the 50 machines available at the fair. There are also 2 ATM centres set up by City Union Bank within the book fair premises. One of these will be operational from Saturday, today.
BAPASI app
There is also a new mobile app launched by BAPASI for the 40 Chennai International Book Fair. This can be downloaded from Google PlayStore on Android devices. Entry tickets, stall details, etc can be accessed or obtained from this app.
