India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja was sold for USD 2 million to the Chennai Super Kings in the Indian Premier League 5 auctions on Saturday.
Chennai Super Kings purchased Jadeja for an undisclosed amount, which is more than USD 2 million in a tie-breaker with Deccan Chargers. This undisclosed amount will go to the Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI).
The 23-year-old, whose base price was USD 100,000, went to Chennai after the tie-breaker clause was invoked when two teams – CSK and Deccan Chargers – bid the maximum (USD two million) for the Saurashtra player.
Jadeja, who was a part of the Kochi Tuskers Kerala in the fourth edition of the cash-rich Twenty20 league, was bought by Chennai.
The left-handed batsman and part-time spinner had a base price of $950, 000, and he was snapped up by the Super Kings in a tie-breaker.
