Following the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister’s visit to Delhi and his meeting with the Prime Minister regarding promulgating an emergency ordinance regarding the jallikattu issue, the central home ministry has agreed to the drafting of an emergency ordinance.
This draft has been sent for the President approval. The approval by the president is expected by tonight (Friday, 20th January) or tomorrow (Saturday, 21st January) morning.
Meanwhile, the central Minister of state from Tamil Nadu, Pon Radhakrishnan had a meeting with the central minister for environment Mr Anil Madhav Dave. After the meeting, both ministers had a session with the press reporters.
Minister Anil Madhav Dave explained that a decision will be taken giving due appreciation to the feeling of the Tamilians. It is accepted that jallikattu is a centuries` old tradition. Due importance will be accorded to the Tamil tradition.
The minister informed that the government is eager to find a permanent solution to this issue. Care will be taken that there will be no repetition of whatever happened in 2011 to ensure there are no mistakes.The draft of the proposed emergency ordinance has been received today. A decision will be taken before tomorrow morning.
