A study revealed that 54 percent of Indian parents are scared because their children are affected by internet usage than in the outside.
In connection with this an organization called Symantec based in America made a study on this. Ritesh Chopra, Country Manager of Symantec while speaking to the media said: 54 percent of Indian parents are scared because their children are affected by internet usage than in the outside. At the same time 40 percent of the parents mentioned that they have permitted their children below 11 years to assess the internet.
The study has revealed that there is an increase in the children affected by internet usage and parents are struggling to handle this situation. 64 percent of the parents are worried that their children would disclose too much personal information to strangers and 62 percent of the parents mention that the family will be affected since their children are using internet.
The survey also revealed that seven percent of parents fail to take any action to protect their children online. There was less usage of internet by children in the countries which had the strictest preventative measures in place.
How to find that children are using internet:
- They withdraw from friends and family.
- They are secretive about online activity.
- They have physical symptoms such as trouble sleeping and weight loss or gain
