Padma Awards for Yesudas,Virat Kohli & Sharad Pawar

The ever-green playback singer legendary Yesudas, Indian Crocket Team Captain Virat Kohli, the veteran leader in the BJP Murali Manohar Joshi, and the leader of the Nationalist Congress Party Sharad Pawar are among the recipients of Padma Awards this year.
The national recognition awards for this year honouring Indian Citizens who excel in their fields will be announced on Wednesday (25th January). The legendary and hugely popular playback singer K J Yesudas will receive the nation’s second-highest honour Padma Vibhushan.
Indian Cricket captain Virat Kohli, Olympic winner Sakshi Mallik, Gymnast Deepa Karmakar, Discus thrower Vikas Gowda,gold medallist at Rio Paralympics Mariyappan Thangavelu and Hockey player P R Sreejesh are being honoured with Padma Shri in the field of Sports.
Nationalist Congress party Leader Sharad Pawar and the BJP veteran Leader Murali Manohar Joshi are being honoured with Padma Vibhushan Awards.
The late and former Chief Minister of Jammu and Kashmir Mufti Mohammad Sayeed, the late Parliament Speaker P A Sangma, the late former Chief Minister of Madhya Pradesh Sundarlal Patwa are honoured with Padma Awards.
Aids Researcher Dr Suneethi Solomon, Musician Himmat Khan, who have settled abroad as persons of Indian Origin, are being honoured with Padma awards. Nepalese Social Service leader Anuradha Koirala is also honoured with Padma Award.
Among the journalists, film critic Bhawana Somaaya is honoured with Padma Shri. Musician Vishwa Mohan Bhat gets Padma Bhushan. Singer Anuradha Paudwal gest Padma Shri.
According to the high-level sources in the government, it is gathered that the highest National Award of Bharatha Rathna is not given to anyone this year.
