Weather update - Chennai to get rains today

Its really turning out to be Historic January as we move into excess rainfall in January. Cuddalore got battered. Today Thoothukudi, Tirunelveli, Ramanathapuram and Kanyakumari may get good rains.
Not often you see 100 mm rainfall in January in any part of the state. This time after last week rains in Delta, again the Central coastal districts have got bountiful rains. Thoothukudi missed out again.

Chennai too got some rainfall but only light rains

For the 1st time, Tamil Nadu & Pondy Subdivision rainfall touches 20% excess for the month of January. Refer Pic. These rains will continue till tomorrow (28th evening) and then it will reduce in entire state.
Today ?
Thoothukudi and Kanyakumari has to get rains today and if lucky good rains too. They both have missed all spells of rains so far. Coimbatore, Ramanathapuram too can be added along with other interior districts like Dindugul, Tiruppur etc.
Chennnnai isolated rains, and will be very light rains.
