Facebook has introduced a new feature onto its login option that will make it shack-proof. Users need to enter an extra special security code while logging into their Facebook account using a new browser.
This will give better confidence to the users that they have complete control over their own Facebook account. This security feature comes in addition to the already existing two factor authentication. This security code will be sent to users via text messages, says Brad Hill, the security engineer.
Users can register physical security code. These security codes can be bought from companies like Yubico. These keys support Universal 2nd Factor (U2F) standard as hosted by FIDO alliance.
This is available only on Android devices. This feature is available only on mobile site and not on Facebook app. Furthermore, one needs to have most recent Google Authenticator and Chrome downloaded.
These keys can be used on Google, Dropbox and Salesforce. The price of these USB keys is around 17 pounds on Amazon. You can log in by tapping the key after feeding the password.
According to trusted sources, there are over 1.79 billion Facebook users. About 6,00,000 logins are hacked in a daily basis.
