Forgot to pay your EB? Do you know what will happen?

Assume yourself being in the position of a responsible husband who does all the bill payments and stuff to keep your house going with no interruption of any kind at all. And one fine day, your deadline to pay your EB gets over and you are still not done with paying it due to unexplainable reasons. So what will happen now?
You may expect an government electricity board official knocking doors and warning you that your electricity connection will be removed. What do I do to avoid it, you ask and he would give you a very poor deadline of maximum half an hour, as he can either be courteous or loyal to the government board.
When you rush your wife to pay the EB, as you are perhaps stuck up at your corporate workspace or for other reasons, you are sure to receive blasts once you roll down the socks after returning home. So what do you do to pay the EB? Is that really possible to drive all the way to the EB office, pressing the pause to your office works and pay the EB as the first and foremost work? There are definitely practical troubles you have.
