Vodafone to merge with Idea Cellular

Vodafone which is considered as the second largest telecommunication networks has confirmed that talks are being held with Idea to merge it with Vodafone. By joining forces with Idea Cellular in India Vodafone would become much more competitive. It is understood that this merger will be possible only if Vodafone buys the shares of Idea cellular.
If a deal is struck, the combined Vodafone-Idea entity will have nearly 39 crore subscribers. This would make the merged entity Indias largest telecom company in terms of revenue, at 43 per cent.
