Lakhs of devotees witnessed the Maha Kumbabishekam held on 6th February after 15 years at Tiruvannamalai Annamalayar temple.
Holy waters from the Ganges, Yamuna and Kaveri rivers were brought to perform the Yaga Pooja. The pooja was performed on 31st January. In between on 2nd February, kumbhabhishekham was performed on the smaller temple towers in the temple complex including the deities of the 63 Saivaite Nayanmars, the adjacent Sannadhi Amman samadhi, Navagrahams, Chitragupta, and Pidari Amman are located.
At this juncture, after the 12 Kala Yaga Poojai was performed at 3 am, the kumbhabhishekham was performed on Rajagopuram, Ammani Amman Gopuram, Seya Gopuram and Thirumanjana Gopuram. The holy waters were taken amidst Vedic Mantras by sivachariyars and the Maha Kumbabishekam was performed. Lakhs of devotees witnessed this Maha Kumbabishekam. Here are photographs of the event.
