Lakhs of devotees throng Palani on account of Thai Poosam festival

Lakhs of devotees have congregated for Thai Poosam festival at Palani. On account of Thai Poosam festival, the flag was hoisted on 3rd at Periyanayaki Amman temple. The celestial wedding of Lord Muruga with Goddess Deivanai took place yesterday. Devotees were chanting with ecstasy.
The car procession will start today. In view of this people have been thronging the temple from yesterday. People offered their vows in various forms. Devotees also danced with ecstacy the traditional dances such as Kavadiyattam,Oyilattam, Thappattam , Mayilattam and Thevarattam. There were long queues at winch station and rope car stations. It is estimated that 5 lakhs devotees have arrived for Thai Poosam festival.
