Due to overlay rotation near Kanyakumari, rains are expected in one or two places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry.

There is likely to be severe water crisis in Tamil Nadu since the northeast monsoon and southwest monsoon failed severely last year. All the lakes which are the source for drinking water are getting dryer. Municipal Administration and Rural Development are constantly holding review meetings in connection with this. Efforts are being taken to  provide water for the next 6 months. In between Chennai Metrological department has mentioned that there are chances of rains in the coming few days.

An official of Metrological department said: An overlay rotation is prevailing over Kanyakumari. Due to this, rains are expected in some places of Tamil Nadu and Puducherry in the next 24 hours. As far as Chennai is concerned, the sky will be cloudy. There will be light rains in some places. The maximum and minimum temperatures of the city will be 31 degrees Celsius and 23 degrees Celsius respectively.
