The temple corridors of the Sabarimala Sri Ayyappan Swamy were opened on Sunday (12th February) evening for the special pooja to be performed with the beginning of the Tamil/Malayalam calendar month of Masi. The special pooja are being conducted from Monday, 13th February.
The temple corridors of the 18-step section and the sanctum Sanctorum entrance part were opened on Sunday evening by Melsanthi Unnikrishnan Namboodri in the presence of Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru, Subsequently, the lamps were lit in the main Sanctum Sanctorum of the deity to wake up Lord Ayyappa from his penance.
After that, no other pooja were performed. The corridors of the corridors of the Sabarimala temple and the palace side temple were closed.The corridors leading to the Sanctum Sanctorum of the deity of Lord Ayyappa was opened in the early morning of Monday, 13th February. Immediately, Tantri Kandararu Rajeevaru performed the Ganapathy Homam and performed the 1st Abhishekham for the deity of the Lord Ayyappa and then distributed the prasadam.
After this, ghee (clarified butter) Abhishekham was commenced. Usha Pooja was performed at 7.30 AM and then Uduayasthamana pooja, Ashtabhishekham, and Kanakabhishekham were performed and the noon session pooja was performed at 12.00 Noon. At night, Pushpanjali Padi Pooja was performed.
The devotees will be allowed till 17th February to enter the Sabarimala temple of Lord Sri Ayyappan. Thousands of devotees had gathered even in the early morning for the Darshan of Lord Ayyappa and participate and watch the ghee abhishekam.
