Chief Minister Edappadi K.Palanisamy on Monday signed the file with regard to giving 50 percent subsidy to buy two wheelers for working women. He announced that this scheme which will be implemented at a cost of Rs 200 Crores will be called Amma Two Wheeler Scheme
He also signed another file with regard to closure of 500 TASMAC (liquor shops).
After taking in charge of the Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K. Palanisamy commenced his official works at the Secretariat located in St George Fort.
The details of the five files in which he passed orders are as under:
Amma Two Wheeler Scheme
In the AIADMK election manifesto it was mentioned that 50 percent subsidy would be given to working women to purchase two wheelers. In order to fulfill this, one lakh working women would be covered per year. Under the provision, fifty per cent grant or a maximum of Rs 20, 000 would be provided. The scheme called Amma Two Wheeler Scheme would be implemented at a cost of Rs 200 crores.
House for fishermen
It was announced in the AIADMK election manifesto that separate houses would be constructed for the fishermen. Accordingly the Chief Minister has passed orders in the file to implement the manifesto. Under this scheme, 5000 houses will be constructed. The scheme will be implemented at a cost of Rs 85 Crores and the cost of each house will be Rs 1.70 lakhs.
Monthly allowance
It was announced in the election manifesto that the allowance given to the unemployed youths will be doubled. Accordingly, Chief Minister has signed the file enhancing the allowance.
The unemployment allowance has been enhanced from Rs 100 to Rs 200 for beneficiaries who failed tenth class, Rs 150 to Rs 300 for tenth passed, Rs 200 to Rs 400 for 12th failed, and Rs 300 to Rs 600 for graduates. A total of 55228 youths would benefit. The scheme would cost the government Rs 31 crore per year.
Maternity assistance hiked
In the year 2011, the maternity assistance given to poor pregnant women under the Dr Muthulakshmi Reddy Maternity Benefit Scheme was enhanced. In the election manifesto it was mentioned that this maternity assistance will be raised from Rs 12,000 to Rs 18,000. Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K.Palanisamy has signed this file. Under this scheme 6 lakhs women would be benefitted. It would cost the government an additional Rs 360 crore.
500 more TASMAC outlets to be closed
Tamil Nadu Chief Minister, Edappadi K.Palanisamy announced that additional 500 TASAMC shops will be closed. In the election manifesto it was mentioned that total prohibition would be enforced in the state in a phased manner. During the month of May, the former Tamil Nadu Chief Minister J Jayalalithaa closed 500 TASMAC shops and also reduced the working hours. At this juncture, the Chief Minister has ordered the closure of another 500 TASMAC shops as per the election manifesto.
