Since new car buyers are slowing moving from diesel variants to petrol variants, Mahindra has fallen in line with them and will be soon launching petrol variants XUV500 and the popular Scorpio.
Mahindra has decided to launch the new cars during the first quarter of 2018.
Another SUV, codenamed ‘S201`, based on the Ssang Yong Tivoli platform will be launched during the second half of 2019.
Currently XUV500 is offered with a choice of two diesel engines 2.2-litre and 1.99-litre.They are priced at Rs 12.47 lakh and Rs 17.57 lakh respectively ex-showroom (Delhi).
Mahindra has informed that depending on the response to this product (XUV500 petrol), the company would launch petrol version of Scorpio.
There is a decline in demand for vehicles whose engines with capacity exceeding 2.0 liters due to pollution problems. Because of this SUV models are being manufactured with engines capacity less than 2.0 litres.
