After demonetization of currencies, two new schemes were introduced to motivate digital transactions. NITI Aayog had introduced these two new schemes for customers who use cards and the merchants who accept digital transactions on 25th December. These schemes will be in force till 14th April. According to the statistics by National Payments Corporation of India, prizes had been disbursed to 9.8 lakhs people. Out of these 9.2 lakhs were customers and 56000 were merchants.
Maharashtra, Tamil Nadu, Uttar Pradesh, Andhra Pradesh and Delhi have emerged as the top five places with a maximum number of winners.
Rs 153.5 crore was given away as reward money. In view of this, NITI Aayog head Amitabh Kant said that more and more adopting digital transactions.
