Tender for Rs. 47 Crores floated for damages caused by the storm vardah

The corporation of the Chennai Metro City has announced that it has given a contract for Rs. 47 Crores to do all the repair work on the damages caused by the December storm vardah.

The officials informed that the repair works will commence next month.
The Metro city of Chennai was devastated by the storm vardah on 12th December 2017.

More than 1 lakh trees were uprooted. Huge losses occurred due to the damage caused to government properties.

The state government of Tamil Nadu allotted special fund to the Chennai Corporation to undertake the repair works.  Consequently, the Chennai Corporation has announced the contracts dividing the work into lots. It was estimated that the maximum damage because of the rain occurred to the interior roads of the city.

Accordingly, the interior road repair work has been divided into 18 lots of tenders under a cost of Rs. 22.4 Crores. For the roads on which state transport buses ply, 3 lots of tenders have been made.

Apart from this, another 20 lots of tenders have been announced at a cost of Rs. 21.81 Crores for various works such as repair of parks, repair of the water drainage system, repair of the side canals on the roads,

The Chennai Metro Corporation officials informed that the total reparation work at a cost of Rs. 47 Crores will be taken up for the next month and will be finished in one-and-a-half months.
