The Measles-Rubella vaccination campaign is extended till 14th March. Earlier, it was announced that the last date be 28th February. The Health Department initially focused on school children, and has now set up kiosks at handpicked hospitals apart from small schools and anganwadis across Vellore district.
Health Department officials had targeted to vaccinate 9.8 lakh children falling between ages 9 months and 15 years of which 4.56 lakh are covered. The campaign started on 6th February.
Children those who missed the dose are now being targeted for vaccination. In these select ten places, vaccination will take place till 14th March. Below are some of the vaccination centres among the 10 in the list
- Government Vellore Medical College Hospital, Adukkamparai
- Government Hospitals at Tirupattur
- Government Pentland Hospital
- Vaniyambadi
- Walajah
- Arakkonam
- Christian Medical College
On Saturday, S. A. Raman, Collector visited vaccination camp. He stated that staff members of Anganwadi are mobilizing the vaccination drive by door to door visits. They verify ink marks on fingers to ensure that children are vaccinated. There will also be random checks by second level officers.
