Eat 10 portions of fruits and veggies to keep diseases at bay

According to suggestions by a recent study, one can keep cancer, early death, stroke and heart attack at bay by consuming ten portions of fruits and vegetables like apples, citrus fruits, pears, green leafy vegetables, etc.
 
The research was conducted by scientists of Imperial College London. This involved analyzing 95 studies made on fruits and vegetable intake.
 
While the recommended 5 portion of fruits and vegetables can reduce risk of diseases, eating 800g a day of these which is equivalent to ten portions provide maximum benefit.
This study was conducted as a meta-analysis where populations across the world were analyzed. Over 2 million people were included and 43,000 cases of heart diseases, 47,000 cases of stroke, 1,12,000 cases of cancer, 81,000 cases of cardiovascular diseases, and 94,000 deaths were analyzed.
 
It is understood from the results of the study as published on the International Journal of Epidemiology that by consuming ten portions of fruits and vegetables every day, 7.8 million premature deaths can be prevented.
 
Furthermore, the study has also pointed the list of vegetables and fruits that in turn provide fullest protection from diseases. The quantity of intake of fruits and vegetables to keep oneself protected against diseases and premature death should be investigated.
 
The lead author of the study, Dr. Dagfinn Aune points that consuming five portions of fruits comes with good amount of benefits, but eating ten portions is even more beneficial.
