The Secretary of the Central Department of Telecommunications, Mr. J. S. Deepak, has informed that the government’s policy on 5G technology will be released in 3 months.
He explained that India has somewhat lagged behind other nations in the aspect of devising the clear policies on Broadband and 3G and 4G Technologies by delays.
Hence, the Department is earnestly working on devising the policies for the recent 5G technology. This 5G technology can be utilised in many spheres of industry. It would be especially useful in the central government`s Smart City Project in creating smart cities.
Keeping this essential role of 5G technology, the policy on Very High Broadband Wavelength System. The government will release the policy in 3 months.
The expenses incurred in the effort of evolving the technology policy including the infrastructure has increased from Rs. 3000 Crores to Rs. 9000 Crores.The Secretary added that this cost will increase to Rs. 18000 Crores in the next year.
