Exclusive mobile app by Indian Railways

Encompassing all travel related services such as hiring taxis, ticketing, and porters, here comes a mobile app from the Indian Railways itself. This will ensure hassle free travelling. This app will be functional from May.
There are a number of websites for ticket booking, taxis, e-catering, etc already in use. However, this new mobile app will serve as a wholesome one including each of the traveling aspects, said a senior railway ministry official.
Railway Minister Suresh Prabhu, launched the business plan for 2017-18 yesterday where he claimed the mobile app to be a single stop solution for all travel services including retiring rooms, tour package booking , ticket booking, ordering food from restaurants, finding hotel rooms, etc.
Reserved as well as unreserved tickets including season tickets and platform tickets can be booked via the platform. For all these types of ticketing, registration and payment accounts are kept common.
Long queues at ticket booking counters and need for paper tickets can both be reduced drastically, as the mobile app will also allow unreserved ticket booking at non-suburban stations.
This app comes under the non-fare revenue scheme by the Railway. This intends surging ecommerce activities and gain more revenue in addition. Data pertaining to passengers will be used for generating non-fare revenue.
