The fees for submitting a petition to the Chennai High Court and the branch Madurai High Court has been increased manifold. This is effective from 1st March.
Until recently, a fee of Rs. 10/- was charged for submitting an appeal for re-enquiry on a previous judgment on criminal cases, the review petitions against the judgment, petition to bring the person on the court, and all other sub-petitions. Now, this has been raised to Rs. 20/-.
There were no charges for the appearance of advocates in criminal cases - Memo of Appearance. Now, a charge of Rs. 10/- has been fixed for this.
The charges of the Public Welfare related petitions has been raised from Rs. 200/- to Rs. 1000/-.
The fee for the sub-petitions for writ petitions related to these types of the petition has been increased to Rs. 10/- to Rs. 20/-.
The fee for the review petitions has been revised from Rs. 100/- to Rs. 500/-.
Except for the fee for the higher appeal against the judgment given by the Motor Vehicle tribunal, action submitted against the orders given as Civil Procedural Law Act, section-14, the fee is being revised from Rs. 50/- to Rs. 200/-.
The petition appeal against Mediation Solution Plan and other similar Acts is revised from Rs, 5000/- to 3% of the property value to a maximum of Rs. 1 Lakh.
The fee petitions submitted under Civil Procedure Law Section 115 or for small reasons the petitions made under the High Court Law Section 25, or the fee for the petition made against the judgment under any other Act are revised from Rs. 50/-, Rs. 100/-. And Rs. 150/-respectively now to Rs. 200/- for all 3 categories.
The fee for the petitions submitted under the Indian Constitution Law section 227 Civil review is revised from Rs. 200/- to Rs. 500/-. The fee for the menu application form is revised from Rs. 10/- to Rs. 20/-.
The advocates have strongly protested these revised charges. The Tamil Nadu and Puducherry Lawyers Association General Body Meeting is scheduled on 12th March in Perundurai.
One of the members of the association informed that a decision will be taken during this meeting regarding the protest to me made against the above revisions.
