Chennai Corporation warning: Failing to pay property tax will lead to confiscation

The Chennai Corporation has warned that the property will be confiscated in case of failure to pay the Property Tax for the 2nd half of the current financial year.

A brief on the press release by Chennai Corporation regarding this:

As per the Chennai Corporation Municipal Law 1919, the Property Tax for the 2nd half of the current financial year 2016-17 within the first 15 days of the 2nd half of the financial year, in other words, the Property Tax must have been paid during the period from 1st October to 15th October.

It is requested that those who have failed to pay the property tax by this date must pay the same immediately to avoid confiscation of the property.

The Property Tax can be paid by cheque or Demand draft for ‘The revenue Officer, Chennai Corporation’ online at the website:  www.chennaicorporation.gov.in.

The Property tax can also be paid in cash in the banks who have an agreement with the Chennai Corporation such as Indian Overseas Bank, City Union Bank, Karur Vysya Bank, HDFC Bank, IDBI Bank, Canara bank, Tamil Nadu Mercantile bank, Kotak Mahindra Bank, Lakshmi Vilas Bank, and Yes bank,

It can also be paid at e-service centers functioning in the Corporation Ward offices and Taluk Offices.
