Idea withdraws domestic roaming charges

Idea cellular announced today that all incoming calls during roaming will be made free. The telecom operator also introduced international roaming value packs that Idea claims to bring a heave of sigh among those abroad travelers.
The offer follows Airtel’s announcement regarding removal of roaming charges for outgoing and incoming calls and SMS and data plans within India. Idea has now made a competitive move to annihilate against the newcomer Reliance Jio too.
This offer from Idea will come into effect from 1st April 2017. With this, over 200 million Idea customers can benefit with free incoming calls and access 2G, 3G and 4G network access across the country. While roaming within India, Idea customers can still enjoy making outgoing calls or SMS at nominal prices, the Idea release claims.
Furthermore, mobile data tariff and data pack offers will be the same as that of its home circles even while on roaming within India. There will be no extra charge, it added.
Idea also made it clear that the free Incoming call while on roaming will be applicable to both prepaid as well as postpaid customers.
There are international roaming value packs available for international travelers. This comes with usage of up to 400 outgoing minutes, 3GB mobile data and 100 SMS per day. All these are available for Rs 2,499 in Asia and Rs 5999 for Europe, and comes with a validity of 30 days.
