In places like Pammal, Anakaputhur, etc, water scarcity is gradually increasing. Hence, people have started buying bore water. They add chlorine to it and sell to others. Officials in these municipalities believe that the areas will receive drinking water from Paalaru.

There is severe water scarcity emerging in suburban regions of Chennai Pammal, Anakaputhur, etc. Metro water is the only primary source of drinking water here. In the past few months, the metro water supply has largely reduced and hence, the supply is unable to meet drinking water demand of people.

The water supply was made available just once in fifteen days. People are scattered looking for drinking water sources. In a few places, they shell out money to buy water. To prevent these situations, the municipality has decided to get water from private wells. They will be adding chlorine to it and drink the same.

They have taken water samples from Poondhamandalam, close to Somangalam. This is sent to the Tamil Nadu water and drainage board for testing. They have declared the water to be suitable for consumption. Following this, a contract is signed for taking 11 loads of water from the well every single day. This is believed to meet the drinking water demand of Pammal and Anakkaputhur people.
