11.35 Lakh applications for writing NEET

The Supreme Court ordered the last year that the students have completed +2 exam and seeking admission to medical courses like MBBS or BDS should write and pass an entrance test NEET (National Eligibility-cum-Entrance Test).

The state government of Tamil Nadu had appealed asking for an exception from this NEET condition by passing a resolution and passed an act in the state legislative assembly and submitted to the office of the president for approval. However, approval has not been given so far.

This year, 11.35 Lakh candidates have applied to write NEET scheduled to be conducted on 7th May. Last year, only 8.05 Lakhs candidates had applied to write NEET. Last year NEET centres were set up in 80 cities throughout the country.

This year, 23 more cities have been added and 2200 NEET centres will be set up. In Tamil Nadu, NEET will be conducted in the cities of Chennai, Trichy, Madurai, Coimbatore, Tirunelveli, Namakkal, Vellore, and Salem.
