There are 3600 Higher secondary Schools in Tamil Nadu. Vacancies are there for posting 2100 postgraduate teachers.

The state department of school education has sent a letter to the State Teachers Recruitment Board to fill up these vacancies immediately.

Accordingly, the Teachers Recruitment Board prepared for conducting a written test to appoint 2100 postgraduate teachers based on the performance in the written test.

However, a situation arose when TET (Teachers Eligibility Test) had to be conducted immediately. So, the Teachers Recruitment Board stopped the preparation for conducting the written test for the appointment of 2100 postgraduate teachers.

However, the recent news is that this written test is scheduled to be conducted.

An official from the DPI (Department of Public Instructions) explained that the appointment of postgraduate teachers will be done through a written test. An announcement regarding this will be made shortly. It must be noted that for the appointment of postgraduate teachers, a pass in the TET is not compulsory.

Also, there is a current plan to upgrade 100 state government high schools to higher secondary schools. This will create job openings for 1000 more postgraduate teachers.

Out of these 1000 posts, 500 appointments will be made through the promotions of the working teachers. The balance 500 postgraduate teachers will be selected through the written test.
