The elaborate and grand Panguni Festival is slated to start today. The temple’s grand Panguni Festival commenced today with the sacred flag-hoisting ceremony today.
One of the most popular events of the Chariot festival is to be performed on 8th April.
There are 63 great Saivite Saints. In honour of the 63 saints, the Lord Kapaleeswarar offers darshan along with them on 9th April.
The sacred flag-hoisting ceremony was performed between 5.30 AM - 6.30 AM this morning to mark the beginning of the grand Panguni festival.
Thousands of devotees participated on this occasion. Among the various events when the supreme deity will offer Darshan in various Divine Carriages, Adhikaranandhi Seva is scheduled to be performed on 4th April. The Darshan of the Lord Kapaleeswarar on the carriage of the Silver Bull will be performed on 6th April.
The chariot festival is scheduled on 8th April. The Darshan of the Lords with 63 saints is on 9th April. On the night of 9th April, Lord Chandrasekhara’s Parvettai and Ainthirumenigal festival will be performed.
On the evening of 10th April, Lord Pichadanar and Ainthirumenigal festival will be performed. At 6.00 PM on 11th April, Lord Kapaleeswarar’s Consort Sri Uma Devi will pray before the Lord in the form of a peacock (hen) under the Punnaimaram (Punnai tree).
On the same night, the divine marriage ceremony will be performed. On 12th April, Uma-Maheshwar Darshan and Pandham Pari festival will be performed. The festival comes to a close on 13th April.
