JEE Advanced cut-off likely to be raised

It is likely that the Joint Entrance Exam (Advanced) will go up as the JEE Main exam was easier this year, as compared to the previous year. In 104 centres, there were more than 10 lakh students who took up the exam across India on Sunday. The exam was for a total of 360 marks. For every correct answer, 4 marks are given and for every wrong answer, it is -1.

Out of the total attendees, 2,20,000 of them will be selected to take up the JEE Advanced exam on 21st May. Exam attendees shared mixed responses about the paper. One of the Kodambakkam students said Mathematics was challenging. I had to attend selectively so that I do not get negatively marked, he says.

Others say physics was quite easy. The JEE exam difficulty level is comparatively lesser this year, especially the physics part. However, the math and chemistry parts are quite of the same level of toughness, said a few others.

As the difficulty level is less, it is expected that the cut-off for JEE advanced will be increased. Last year, the cut-off for general category was 100, and now, this year, it is presumed to be 100 to 115.
