In order to reduce the number of passport applicants waiting in large numbers, special passport mela is being organised in 3 places on Saturday, 8th April.

Acceding the heavy public demand and to facilitate the quicker processing of applications of the frequent overseas fliers, a passport mela is being organised on 8th April on behalf of the Chennai Regional Passport Office.
The 3 passport centres located in Saligramam, Tambaram, and Aminjikarai will function on Saturday, 8th April like other weekdays.
It is expected that around 2500 applicants for the passport will benefit from this special mela.
Individuals interested in participating in this passport mela can register through the official website online:
www.passportindia.gov.in. They have to get the ARN (Application Registration Number). They can pay the passport fees also online and get the details regarding time of the meeting.
On the day of the passport mela, the applicants have to bring all the original certificates and proofs and also a set of self-attested copies of the same. Both fresh applications for a new passport as well as the application for passport renewal will be accepted in the mela.
However, Tatkal Applications for passport and PCC (Police Clearance Certificate) will be given in this mela.
Only the applicants who got the time registration will be allowed to enter as per the specified time.
