The Chennai High Court has relaxed the recent rule that the hotels without proper vehicle parking facilities must be closed. The verdict is postponed without any definite date.
There are several hotels all over the Chennai without proper vehicle parking facilities for the visitors. The visitors generally park their vehicles on the roadside leading to a heavy traffic congestion.
Mr. Logu from Vyasarpadi filed a case in the Chennai High Court asking to take action on the hotels without proper vehicle parking facilities.
When the enquiry was taken up, the Chennai High Court ordered on 10th February that the hotels without parking facilities for vehicles must be closed.
In a petition filed by the President of the Chennai hotels association, Ravi, it was stated that there are around 400 to 500 small hotels operating for more than 50 years.
With the Chennai High Court order to close these hotels because of lack of parking facilities, they have been subjected to severe financial hardships.
Ravi explained that the recent rule should be applicable only to the new hotels that are being opened. So, the order to close the old hotels must be withdrawn.
The enquiry on this was taken up by a panel of the Chief Justice Huluvadi G Ramesh and Judge R.M.T. Teekaraman yesterday (Tuesday, 4th April).
The panel ordered that the order to close hotels without proper vehicle parking facilities to be relaxed. The licence withdrawn for 767 hotels must be returned. The main case enquiry and judgement was postponed without any specific date.
